"You're lucky that you can cook." he responded, laughing quietly to himself. Jacob couldn't cook worth crap, and pretty much anything he cooked came out burnt or just a whole other disgusting of its own. That was why he spent so much time at Sam and Emily's house, there was always delicious cookies or muffins, so Jake didn't really have to worry about cooking. Free food was always a pretty good thing to Jacob.
"Exactly." he agreed, nodding his head. "And you always wonder what your life would be like if it never happened." he replied, glancing to his side to stare down at her. It was like she knew what he was going through, and what was going on inside his head. It was nice to just open up to someone like this, and he didn't have to worry about what he was saying or anything. Christa was human, and would never be involved with the whole vampire, werewolf situation. It was nice to talk to someone who.... well, wasn't involved with all of it.
Jacob hadn't really expected to hear her say any of that. Did she really like him? He furrowed his eyebrows with confusion, not really understanding. Yes, he understood what she was saying and could see that she liked him, but it still confused him a little. He wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to say to that. After all, he had a girlfriend and was also in love with another girl. Was it even possible to add a third girl to this huge, hectic mess? He wasn't sure, he really, really wasn't sure. He was speechless. Jake wanted to hit himself for not saying anything. Not saying anything was the worst thing you could do. Well, there was Jake for you. Always at a loss for words.

"My dad liked to cook allot, I would watch him.." A small shrug graced her shoulders as she tugged at a small hole forming on the knee of her old jeans, only small patches of metallic nail polish remaining on her nails. "I tend to kill eggs, though.." A small smirk formed on her lips, referring to the last time he had come over for breakfast.. Phantom of the Opera + Christa cooking + singing on counter = bad things happen. To say the least, the egg ended up all over the wall, and Christa with more or less a concussion.
"Wonder if you'd be where you are.. Who you are." Ideally, Christa traced her scars with a single finger, ankles crossed in front of her dangling above the the cool water. Chewing on her lower lip, Christas gaze remained out in a distance, watching the dawn begin to break. Even as it wasn't clear like the ones that rose upon torch lake, the brilliant colors that would come, even if they weren't near rising just yet, it was.. Beautiful. The misty cloud cover helped the colors melt together, blues, purples, pinks, reds..
Not that she expected him to say that he had feelings for her, or even say that he had guessed, but.. Nothing? She didn't like the silence once bit, and it had her chewing on the inside of her cheek. Of course. This was what usually happened when she said something about how she felt, so it wasn't new.. But it still hurt. Silence was the worst.. It almost always meant something was wrong, something wasn't right about whatever happened. "Told you." She murmured, sighing. She had indeed told him that it wasn't the best idea for her to say anything. But what did she knew, anyway? No one ever seemed to listen to a word. Oh well.. Pulling her legs up to her chest resting her chin on her knees once more, Christa made a face. Things like that always happened to her, and even as she had been through it all the time, it was always unpleasant.

Jacob laughed loudly when she brought up the incident where she had completely destroyed the egg that they were going to eat from breakfast. A small smirk graced across his features as he remembered all of it. "Actually, eggs are one of the only things I can cook." he responded, trying hard not to laugh. "I could teach you how to cook them so that you can avoid incidents like a few weeks ago, when you practically gave yourself a concussion."
Jake pursed his lips together in thought, thinking really hard about what she had said. "I'd definitely be a whole other person...." he trailed off, and stared off into the horizon as the sun began to rise and provide light onto the darkened streets and neighborhoods. If Jacob had never been a werewolf, if he had never been pulled into the world of vampires and werewolves, then he'd probably be a lot different then who he was today.
Jacob hated himself for just being silent. That was the worst thing you could do. With a small sigh, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, trying to comfort her. He probably should have told her that he had a girlfriend, and that was the reason that he had been silent, but he didn't want to see her in anymore pain then she already was in. "You have become one of my really good friends, Christa. I'm just still trying to.... figure things out, you know?" he responded, slowly shaking his head as he looked away. Plus, he didn't want to get her involved with everything that was happening with him. And if he liked her, she would get swept into the world of vampires and werewolves. She deserved better then that.

"Or maybe you'll just have to cook the eggs and I'll.. Cook everything else." Christa laughed with him, of course, a grin plastered on her face. His smile was just so carefree at that moment, bringing a single question popping into her head. Was he like this all the time, or was it just with her? "But I didn't." She countered about the whole concussion business. "You freaked out more then I did." Laughing, Christa could vaguely remember the look on his face.. But only just. That, and how quickly he had gotten to her, being across the other side of the room. Huh.
"So would I. And.. I know I wouldn't be here.. But I'm kinda glad I'm here, ya know? Minus the fact that there isn't a damn thing to do in this town." If she hadn't been, well, a lunatic, and sent to a mental institution, she wouldn't have came here.. And she would have never met Jacob.. So many things would have never happened, but what would've happened if she hadn't? If she had talked out her problems, punched someone or something instead? She'd never know.. But she would've never ended up in Forks.
On any other occasion, Christa would have not been bothered, more welcomed the gesture, but as she shrugged his warm arm off of her shoulders, Christa shook her head."Don't worry about it, okay? I'm use to it." Christa avoided even looking at him, keeping her pained eyes on the only slightly illuminated sky. Yes.. She was use to it, but it never felt any better then the last time it had happened. And the time before. And perhaps before that. It was probably the reason she disliked people, men in particular. They always found some way to make her suffer, whether emotional or physical. She'd take physically inflicted pain over emotional any day. Exhaling, Christa put on a small smile, as not to throw them off. "Anyway.." She started glancing over at him. "I told you you didn't want to hear it."

"You're right, I was more concerned then you were." he chuckled, slowly shaking his head. He could clearly remember that day when they had rushed to the hospital. Luckily she had been okay and hadn't needed any serious medical attention. It was also lucky that she hadn't gotten Carlisle as a doctor. Jacob wasn't exactly sure how he would have handled that. Watching a damn leech take care of a girl he cared about? There was no way that could have gone well.
"I guess if I had never gone through some of the things that really changed my life, I wouldn't really be here right now, and I wouldn't be the person I am today. In a way I'm happy about the things that have happened to me and I'm also sometimes sad and angry about what's happened." he responded, glancing down at her. It was nice to just open up like this. He wasn't really used to saying all this out loud. Usually all he had to do was think about it, and that was enough.
Jacob let his arms fall at his side, and he turned away. He hadn't meant to make her feel bad, and he felt rejected because she hadn't enjoyed his warm touch. He sighed very deeply and then glanced back at her. "How can I not worry about it? I care about you, and now you're upset." he whispered, looking at her with concern in his eyes. "I'm glad you told me, Christa. I like girls who can be honest with me, and who aren't scared to share their feelings."

"And you insisted that I went to the hospital.. Damn Jake, I was fine!" Though, there was a grin placed softly on her lips as she watched him. She honestly wasn't use to someone actually caring about her in the least bit, she had been taught to fend for herself. Since meeting Jacob, she had thought about this regularly, about how strange yet pleasant it was.. Knowing if you died, at least someone would be effected. Not the best way in putting it, but it somehow.. Reassured her that all had not been lost.
"Because you'll never get to be well.. Like everyone else. For me.. It sets me apart, even if no one notices it. And I know.. I know that they won't go away. They're not going to just disappear. They could fade, but they'll always be there. It's something that happened, and I can't change that. Probably' the same for you." Shrugging slightly, a very small smile appeared on her lips as she glared up at him. Keeping things inside.. It was never good, it was the reason she had been marking herself up. Well, that and everything else that was going on, but there was no way she was going to tell him that.
Shaking her head, Christa placed her hands on her temples, closing her eyes. "I should've known better then to have told you, though. I've been through this to many times, I should know to keep my mouth shut about these things." Sharing your feelings and being shot down were to different things. One was a reaction of another, but they were still very very different. Letting her hands slide down her face with a light sigh, Christa glanced up at the sky once more. Still quite dark.. The way she liked it.

"What if you had gotten seriously hurt?" he asked, arching his right eyebrow as he glanced down at her with a wide grin on his lips. "I had no way to know, and I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if something really bad happened to you and I hadn't done anything." he turned to her and slowly shook his head. Even with that argument she'd still be mad at him for taking her to the hospital.
"Yeah, it's exactly the same for me." he whispered in retort as he quickly glanced away. "I can't change it.... sometimes I wish none of it had ever happened and I wonder about what my life would be like if it hadn't. But like I said, it makes me me." he looked back at her again and returned the very small smile. "In the end, I just realize that I can't control it and that I just have to live with it, which I have learned to do." he said, shrugging his shoulders.
He got an urge to put his arm around her shoulders again, but he remembered how she had disliked his comforting touch before so he just let his arm lay at his side. He sighed deeply and then looked back at her again with a blank look in his eyes. Jake was honestly really surprised with all of this, and he wasn't sure how to handle the situation. Why was it lately that girls had been shouting out there feelings to him? First Annie tells him that she loves him, and now Christa tells him that she likes him? It was just weird, very very weird. Jake wasn't used to all this female attention. It was all new to him. "Don't be sorry about it or anything, I'm glad you told me because I honestly didn't know you felt that way about me." he responded, tilting his head a little to the side. Again, Jacob had never been one that was good with words.

"I hate hospitals." She grumbled in responce, making a face. She honestly did, expecially when she didn't have to go.. But she was glad that Jacob had made her go because, well, it showed that he cared. He cared enough to tell her that she wans't okay, that she wansn't alright to just be left there. Granted, she had been alright, but still. "But you know what I hate even more? Going without pants." Grinning, Christa couldn't help but laugh.
"We're two of a kind." She laughed quietly, resting her head on his shoulder. "Both broken, both have issues." Smiling softly, Christa pulled apart a small blade of grass she held between her fingers, tearing it, ripping it to shreads before plucking out another. "I guess in the long run, it was a good thing. I got to meet you, and being abnormal gives me plenty of chances to look like a fool. Of course, I have paper to prove I'm crazy." Anything to make a joke out of it.. talking about her past just seemed to bite.
"I do." She said quietly, pursing her lips. "But what.. What about you?" She said once more quietly, looking up at him with eyes attempting to cope. Of course, she'd done it before, but each tiem it had taken a little longer. A bit more time to accept the fact. No matter, she would anyway. She shouldn't ask for more then friendship from him, anyway. It almost seemed a bit selfish to ask of it, seeing as he'd already given her so much. But she had told him, and regretted it. She hated the fact that he was able to open her up, have her talk freely.. So much so that she told him everything. God.. Why had she gone something like that? She usually had a good hold on everything and anything that went though he rmind, and now she was just putting it all out there? That just didn't work.

Jacob chuckled loudly at the memory, he had been so eager to take her to the hospital that he had just picked her up and taken her without bothering to grab her a pair of pants. "Lucky for you I didn't need my jacket." he laughed, glancing over at her with a smile in his eyes. Jackets were just accessories for him, and technically he didn't really need one.
He plopped his head down gently on to hers as she rested it on his shoulder. "In a way I'm glad all that happened to you, because if you never met me...." he trailed off, thinking about the possibility of it. "Well, if I had never met you then I would have no one to take me away from everyday life, and that just wouldn't be very good, and I'd probably end up going insane." he whispered. A small grin slipped onto his lips.
"What about me?" he asked, repeating her question. He furrowed his eyebrows with slight confusion, but then understood what she was getting at. "So you're asking how I feel about you?" he asked, pursing his lips together in thought. "I'm not sure, Christa. Like I said I'm still trying to figure things out, you know? But I will admit this, there is a part of me that cares for you. But I'm not really sure how big that part is." he whispered. Should he have mentioned that he had a girlfriend? Probably. He'd get to that in a bit.

"Lucky for you I didn't knock your head off." Her tiny frame shook with laughter as she said this, fighting a smile of her own. But, then again, she had been thankful for the fact Jacob had a jacket with him, otherwise she would've been screwed. She had been so irritated by the fact that she was at the hospital, she had taken it out on the poor doctor that had been assigned to her. Later on she found out that it had been their first few weeks.. Yikes.
"So you're happy I'm absolutely mental?" Her grin matched his as she said this, quite comfortable. One thing she knew about being around Jacob was that she would never get cold. Seriously. He should be the one in the hospital, she expected he would have a very high temperature most of the time, anyway. "I guess in a way I'm glad, too." Smiling softly, Christa glanced up at him, tugging at the seem of her hoodie.
Eyes seemed to light up quite a bit when he said this, a grin appearing on her lips. He wasn't saying he liked her, like she had, but it was, well, a start. It all started with caring for someone, right? She was just happy at the fact that someone actually did care for her. Christa. Someone who had learned to fend for herself. It was nice to know someone would be there for you. Shoulders shrugging lightly, Christ glanced up at him. "It's just nice to know that you do care."

A wide grin slid onto his lips. Like she could knock off his head, even if she wanted to. Her small frame compared to his tall figure wasn't even close in comparison. There was no way she could hurt him, and the fact that he was supernaturally strong didn't really help either. "I have insane reflexes, you wouldn't have been able to knock of my head if you tried." he chuckled, smirking down at her.
"I think that the more insane you are, the more interesting you are." he responded, throwing a small rock into the pond in front of them. "Normal people are boring, and when you get right down to it everyone is mental in their own unique way." It was true, everyone on the earth had their quirks that made them a little crazy, it gave them personality and character. Jake glanced down at her, returning her small stare and then offered her a grin.
"Well now you know." he whispered, and as the sun came up he glanced away. His eyes weren't used to the sudden bright light, and it hurt his eyes to stare at the sun as it started to peek up over the horizon. "It's not like it isn't obvious that I care." he said quietly which was followed by a small smile. After all, he had come looking for her at 4 in the morning, that had to have said something.

"Wanna bet? All my Irish blood builds up when I'm angry. You haven't seen one of my blow-ups. I'm dangerous when I'm pissed."And, to be honest, she hoped he would never have to see it. It can get quite.. Scary. Things get broken, screaming commences, and eventually.. She breaks down. Not a fun sight, really. But that very rarely happens, and hadn't since she'd arrived in Forks. Being away from her parents, and Jimmy, helped..
"I'm pretty damn interesting then, aren't I? Well, being insane is just one of my qualities." Her small frame shook with silent laughter as she said this, a grin breaking out across her lips. "Then again, if I weren't insane, then I'd blend in.. Blending in isn't something I could deal with." she said, sticking her tongue out and revealing a tiny silver ball, and the snapping her mouth shut dramatically, trapping it between her teeth. "You should get one." She joked lightly, glancing back to the pond.
"I'm not use to it. I moved from Ireland, Jake. Things are done differently there then they are here.. And on top of that, my parents are in California. I'm here by myself, and I'm use to not needing anyone around.. Anyone caring about me. It's weird." It honestly was. He probably lived here his whole life with his family and friend. Christa, however it was originally Christina, had hopped a whole country with nothing but her parents, who she hated.. Moved away from them, anyway.

Jacob's rose his eyebrows in surprise, "I guess I just need to stay on your good side." he laughed in retort. He tried to imagine her getting angry, he had never seen a side of her like that so he couldn't really imagine it. But honestly, if she tried to hit him or something she'd probably just end up hurting herself, kinda like Bella when she had tried to punch him after he had kissed her. He grinned at the memory of it, he felt bad because she had gotten hurt and angry, but you had to admit it was a little funny.
"I would say yes, you're are a very interesting person." he responded, grinning down at her. Lately it seemed like a ton of interesting people were just being dumped into Forks and La Push, it was weird but Jacob definitely wasn't complaining or anything. He liked all the new faces. He glanced down at the small silver ball on the tip of her tongue. "You think I should get one?" he chuckled, slowly shaking his head. "I don't really think that it's my.... style. Plus guys with pierced tongues are kinda weird." he admitted.
"To tell you the truth, I'm not really used to people caring about me either." he whispered as he looked away. It seemed like in the past few months 2 girls had already told him how they felt about him. Jake really, really wasn't used to all the attention. He was used to being rejected by a girl named Bella and having his heart broken over and over again.

"I would advise so. Bet cha' anything I could take you down then. I'm scary." Christa made a slight cat-claw hand motion, having to fight a laugh at that one. She honestly didn't look scary in the least bit.. Blue eyes of doom? Yeah, right. Plus her size, well, she couldn't hurt anyone. Perhaps poke their eye out, but nothing really more then that.
Making a face, Christa shrugged. "Maybe you're right." She commented about him getting his tongue pierced. "Am I weird for having a bunch of piercings?" She asked, clicking her tongue piercing between her front teeth. Many people did, but she found that people around there didn't really have piercings.. She wouldn't be surprised if plenty of people thought it was odd.
"Well, I do. Allot." she whispered in response, eyes on the still-rippling pond. "We have each-other, then, right? We'll always have someone to be there." A soft smile was placed upon her lips as she glanced up at him, able to see him better now that the sun was rising. She honestly had missed him.. His laugh, his smile, his appetite. Man.. How exactly had she lived without the kid?

"I can be scary too." he whispered, moving a little closer to her. The smirk on his lips was wicked, and he tilted his head to the side as he look down at her. The smirk then changed into a smile as he pulled away, Jacob could be really scary if he wanted to. But he would never want to scare Christa. He wanted at least one person in his life who didn't think of him as some evil monster.
Jacob slowly shook his head, "No, it's not weird. Just different, which definitely isn't a bad thing." he responded, pursing his lips together in thought. He stared down at the small piercing on her tongue again, and then laughed a little. He loved how carefree and outgoing she was. It was nice to have some different people around La Push.
A smile slipped onto his lips when she said they'd always have each other. It was comforting, and it made him happy to hear someone promise that they would always be there. With Bella, he never knew if she would be there. He liked the commitment. Knowing that someone would always have your back was nice to hear. "Yeah, we'll always have each other." he whispered in retort. He glanced down at her and returned the smile.
