Jacob had watched in horror as the fight slowly unraveled. He too looked at them both in disgust, especially at Leah. He could understand Annie, for she was new to all of this and was still learning to control her emotions. But Leah, she should have known better. She shouldn't have pushed Annie that far, and he shook his head in frustration because what Leah had let happen.
After dodging between a tree, he quickly phased. He walked out from the massive trees with his jeans hanging loosely off his jaws. Jake slowly walked over to the three other wolves, and a quiet growl rumbled out from his chest as he glanced over at Leah. He turned to Sam, Ya, I'll stay back here with Annie. You two go on ahead. he responded in thought. He then turned to Annie, he whined a little when he got a good look at her appearance. I'm sorry about what I said, we just needed to you phase. I didn't mean any of it.....Are you alright? he took a step closer to her, nudging her a little with his muzzle.

Leah would have just normally turned her head to look a Jacob, but since that actual movement was too much to her still healing skin, she softly padded toward him. She looked at him and Annie and whined. Her eyes were a full of fear. I can't believe I got like that... I'm so sorry. She thought, not exactly sure to whom she was apologizing, though she knew that they all deserved an apology.
She should have been more responsible! How could she have let her wolfish instinct rule her. Annie hadn't been the only one she had caused pain to. She could see it in their eyes. She dropped down on her haunches, pressing her stomach to the ground, and stretched her paws out in front of her. She couldn't believe her stupidity. Here in the clearing, she had never felt so much shame. She tried not to think how disappointed Emily must be in her, or how she had gone so primitive. They all knew that she wouldn't have seriously injure somebody intentionally, didn't they?

Great. The two people she didn't want to talk to had stayed behind. True, most of Annie's anger was directed towards Leah (the bitch deserved it), though she wasn't exactly happy at Jake either. He had brought up the one topic that got beneath her skin, and allowed Leah to get in on it, too.
She bit back the feeling to growl as Leah started back, and whimpered a little when Jake nudged her automatically-damnit, that hurt, he should've known it would. I'm fine, she thought, even though she really wasn't sure if she was. It was healing, sure, but damn it hurt like a bitch. She could only assume the pain would fade. She blinked at LEah's apology, and mentally sighed. It's alright. At least the bitch knew it was her own damn fault.

Jacob nodded his large head as he glanced over at Leah, accepting her apology. As long as she knew she was the one who was in the wrong, then that was good enough for him. He took a step back from Annie when he nudged her, he had totally forgotten that she was still in the healing process. When you two are all healed we should probably get going. We can't waste much more time. he thought, glancing from Annie to Leah.
He yawned loudly, exposing a full set of very sharp, white teeth and walked a little towards the woods and sat down on his haunches. His tail flicked off to the side and wrapped around him, waiting patiently for the only two females in The Pack to finish healing. He figured it would be best to just give them both space for the moment.

I'm fine, Annie thought after a moment, once she had stopped bleeding. She was still sore and all that lovely stuff, though she had a feeling that was there to stay for a while. I'm ready when you are.
So much for being in a good mood. Now she was in a terrible mood, and still wasn't happy with either Jake or Leah. The latter had pushed her over the edge, and the former had given her ammo. She'd forgive Jake easily, she knew that much, but she had a very good feeling that this would be a grudge against Leah. She usually didn't hold grudges, but Leah had definitely earned one.

Jacob motioned with a small nod of his head that they should probably get going. Leah, go catch up with Sam. he thought, carrying out Sam's orders. He stood up from where he had been sitting and walked over to Annie, with his eyebrows pinned together, looking concerned. Come on, we'll just go slow for now. he said as he started running back through the woods towards Forks.
His run wasn't nearly as fast as he could go, but Annie was still adjusting to everything and she would have to get use to the immense speed that she had. Just starting off going full speed would probably just end up making her a little dizzy. He stopped and glanced back, waiting patiently for her to catch up.

Leah stopped bleeding soon after Annie. She rose slowly, carefully. She knew they they were thinking it was all her fault, and it wasn't her who had started the physical fight. She whined quietly, but she kept to herself, allowing herself to think of everything, of anything so she wouldn't blow up at Annie for thinking it was her fault. The reason? She had seen the look of disgust in Sam's eyes. If there was one thing on earth that Leah hated, it was disapproval from Sam.
She couldn't stand to see revulsion crease his features, whether he was man or wolf. So she just kept to herself, hoping that the rain would come. The rain always washed away her feelings, and besides being a wolf, it was one of the few reasons she kept in La Push. She whined again at Jacob, but followed his orders.

We don't have to, Annie thought, hating the fact that she had to practically be babied. She'd just freaking proved herself, hadn't she? Yes, she knew it was wrong, though clearly she wasn't weak, and they didn't have to go slow because of her. She was really growing to hate all of this. And damn, she was in a bad mood already.
She caught up with apparent ease, and even sped a little past him, though kept a good amount of distance between herself and the group ahead of her--she knew she was supposed to be in the back, so she'd stay in the back, but she didn't want to go slow. She wanted to be like the frigging rest of them, damnit.

Being much bigger then Annie, it was easy to catch up with her. His legs took long strides and covered a lot of ground in only a small amount of time. He smirked a little, if she wanted to go fast then they would go fast. Ok then, let's go." he laughed, wondering if she would even be able to keep up. He took off like a bullet, maybe even faster. His whole body was a blur among the canopy of trees and bushes. But even though he was moving so quickly, he was also very quiet. He glided over the ground, his feet only pausing on the ground for less then a second before pusing off again.
Running seemed like the only thing he had control over in his life. He was the one who decided how fast he ran, where and for how long. Running was the only thing that made sense, and just like how Annie used smack to get away from her problems, Jacob used running to escape his. It was his drug, his addiction, and his obsession. Jacob glanced back quickly, seeing how Annie was moving along.

Leah darted forward toward where Sam was. She kept her distance from the other two, still trying to keep her mind free of all thoughts other than the adrenaline rushing through her body. This, however didn't work. Her mind kept going back to the fight, and guilt filled her heart. How could I have come that close to hurting someone... She thought. The guilt caused her to slow her pace, until instead of matching Sam's steps, she lagged slightly behind him.
The forest around her was anything but dormant as it had been her last run. The animals seemed hardly aware of the huge monsters who's paws pounded the ground almost silently, treading lightly, carefully. The foliage was green as ever and the familiar scene comforted Leah's troubled heart while shooting out accusations. You are an animal, the other creatures seemed to yell. You preach about self control, yet you have none, the silent trees taunted. Leah let out a short, sad bark, as if agreeing with the imagined charges.

It seemed the pack was only hanging together by a thread lately to Sam. They were hardly prepared for a patrol, nevermind a war. Again, doubts about defending the treaty ran through his racing mind. If only there was some compromise the pack and the Cullens could reach. If only there was some way this could be resolved peacefully.
The sound of his heavy paws thudding against the muddy woodland floor was soon joined by another pair of paws. He turned to Leah, about to ask her what she thought, when she started to fall behind. Even as a wolf she had a hard time disguising the sadness in her eyes. He huffed sullenly and stopped ahead of her, black head turned over his shoulder, studying her.
He could feel her despair and guilt as if it were his own. Leah, come on, we'll settle everything later. He wanted to get to the Cullen's house before it was raining and he needed everyone there to have their mind on the pressing matter of the possibly broken treaty. Still, he didn't go ahead, instead waiting for her to be ready to join him.

Leah lowered her head as Sam stopped and studied her. She lifted her head slightly when he said that they would settle everything, nut she wasn't entirely sure. Instead of arguing, she ran up next to him and told him through their telepathic communication, I'm fine, Sam, let's go.
She ran ahead in a slow enough pace, each time she lifted a paw, it was like getting once step closer to the castle in the sky. The freedom. The bliss of forgetting your pain. But she kept at a reasonable pace. What was it you were thinking before, Sam? About the treaty and all? She wondered.

He felt bad for pushing aside her problems in what probably seemed like a callous manner, but Sam needed her to be focused at the task at hand.
He flew after her, muscular legs working quickly to keep pace. She was smaller than him but faster, similar to Paul's build but without the broad shoulders. She was definitly the most graceful out of all of them, but Sam supposed it came with being a girl. The green forest turned into a blur around him as he ran through it. Running felt good, a nice way toe relieve the stress he felt.
The corner of Sam's lips turned down as she brought up the treaty. He didn't want to seem indecisive with such a big decision, but since when hadn't he included her in on his thoughts? I don't know if this is the right thing to do. What you said about Seth the other day got me thinking...some of the pack just seems to young to be going to a war, you know?

Leah sighed mentally, going over what he said in her mind. On the one hand, she thought just sort of letting it go was a great idea, it would protect all the younger members of the pack... But on the other, would they, the pack, be so ready to give up on their right to defend themselves, the treaty that had been put in to place to protect the residents of La Push... Protect them, or deny them the fight of their dreams. I don't get it Sam. Why do all the boys just want to fight it out with the parasites? I mean, a part of me agrees, and the other part says let it slide. Even though I hate the thought of putting my brother, and my pack brothers in danger, I realize that if we just look for another compromise, we'll just be letting them walk all over us. Like we were afraid of them.
She hadn't really voiced an opinion, she had said what she needed to, and the fact was, she wasn't about to let those parasites think that her pack was afraid of them. She continued to run until she arrived at the imaginary border. The place she never crossed alone, the place that walled in her safe haven and kept out all the evil of the world. She slowed and hesitantly placed one paw over the line, afraid that the world was going to collapse or something. When nothing happened, she bounded off toward the Cullens. Damned leechs.

He could see where she was coming from. Even though it was much more controlled than the other's, he still very much disliked the Cullen family. More than once he had wished they had never existed. But they did, and so Sam and the pack had to deal with the consquences nature had left them with.
They're babies, of course they want to fight, Sam thought, letting out an amused bark. I just don't think they understand the reprecussions. I think we could take them, but at what price? How much stronger are we than them? I just don't like the idea of walking into an already defeated battle.
Does the treaty apply to people who want to be bitten? This was the question he had been struggling with most of all. If it was free will, did it not count? But he knew Leah didn't hold the answer. It was just something he knew he needed to voice.
He stopped at the border even as she raced ahead, waiting for Annie and Jake to speed up. He wanted to show Annie the border so she didn't ever cross it accidently. No need to start any war early.
