Dawn was slowly creeping on the edges of La Push, pushing away the heavier thunderstorms and casting the rest with an orange glow. He could see darker clouds way off behind the ones leaving, assuring that their journey to Forks would not be a dry one, despite the lack of rainfall now. Sam sighed and finished his strip of bacon, thinking about the best way to handle the situation when he got there, running different scenarios through his mind. Most of them included Jake jumping at the youngest leech’s throat. He winced at the image the thought provoked. He didn’t feel good about going, but he knew already that there were too many things in life you had to do that you couldn’t avoid…
Across the table, Paul was chewing cheerily on his plate of bacon. At least someone seemed to be in a good mood. Jake and Annie were still upstairs; he could hear their footsteps above him. Leah was God knows where after running out earlier that morning, but he knew she’d show up for this. She hadn’t let him down yet.
He looked at the chipped clock that hung over the oven; it was 5:53. Almost time to go, but time was going so slowly that it might as well have been hours from now. He finished off his breakfast and stretched out his long limbs, yawning. He was going straight to sleep after this. That was, if it ended well.
Walking over to Emily, who was clearly upset with them going, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed the silky hair that fell down her back. “We’ll be alright, you know we’ll be,” he murmured in her ear. Sam had faith that they’d all return in one piece as long as Jake or Annie didn’t do something impulsive.
She didn’t answer, just turned in his arms to kiss him. It was the closest thing to good bye he was going to get, and he knew it, so he released her from his hold and turned his attention to Paul. “After you’re done eating, you can call Collin and apologize,” he commanded sternly. Paul got too fresh with the younger werewolves at times and Sam was finding himself constantly in the position to keep him in place. “I mean it,” he said again, wagging a finger at the teenager.
“Fuck him!” Paul retorted, which earned him a hit on the back of his head with Emily’s wooden spoon. Sam was still smiling as he stepped into the living room, ready to leave.
“Jake!” he called up the stairs.

As tired as Jacob was, he had not slept well the night before. There was just too much on his mind. Avoiding things was usually something that came very natural to him, but he knew that he would have to come head to head with his problems eventually, and he believed that it was going to happen today. After slowly sighing, he unraveled himself from Annie, and stood up out of the bed. He didn't bother putting a shirt over his bare chest, for it would probably just get ripped of anyways when he phased. He glanced down at Annie, wanting to let her sleep for as long as possible. He still wished she wasn't going, but whatever Sam said went.
"Coming!" he yelled down to Sam as he started making his way down the stairs, his feet soft against the wooden steps. He yawned loudly as he entered the kitchen, and quickly grabbed a piece of bacon off of Paul's plate and stuffed it into his mouth. Jake slouched down in one of the open chairs, nodded good morning to Emily, and then glanced up at Sam. "I think Annie will be down in a second." he said through another loud yawn. His foot tapped lightly against the ground, eager and anxious for what the day might bring.

Leah whined as the sun came up on the horizon, knowing she'd have to go. She was near enough to Emily's house to phase back now and still make it time, she realized. When she phased back, she looked into a puddle of water that had accumulated since the last evening. She looked disheveled and her face showed traces of weariness. Well, that was obvious. After running out on them in a fit of temper, she had spent the whole night running by the border.
She ran a hand through her hair, and started walking toward the house where she was sure to be met with hostility and anger. She sighed deeply, attempting to make it look like she had gotten some sleep. Her dress was crumpled and her hair was knotted and tangled. She pulled it out of the ponytail and braided it, still walking. I really have to stop going with out sleep she thought, shaking her head tiredly.
When she arrived in front of the house she heard the typical sounds of a lively morning at Emily's. A tear escaped her eyes when she realized how it could of been her life. But then again, it was for the best, she could tell when she saw the looks Emily and Sam shared, but dear god, did it ever stop hurting?
She wiped the tear away, knocking on the door. She didn't wait for a response, like usual, merely walked in. When she entered the kitchen she smiled and said, "Good morning boys." She was trying to be nice for the fact that it had hit her last night that Jacob was in the same situation as her almost, and her being a bitch about it didn't really help anyone out.

The storm had kept Annie up; although she had fallen asleep, she kept waking up. That, however, may have been normal as well. It was, sadly, what usually happened during the night. She was, however, quite comfortable and warm as she was sleeping next to Jacob, which made up for the sleeplessness slightly.
She had been more awake than asleep when he'd shifted away from her and gone downstairs, though she couldn't bring herself to move for another moment after he was gone. She did, however, force herself to get up very soon after, and stretched for a few moments before starting down the stairs. Sadly, she didn't have clothing options--what she had been wearing would just have to do.
She slowly headed down the stairs, peeking around a corner in hopes of spotting people. She felt relieved when she did, managing a quick smile, hiding a yawn behind her hand. She lightly settled herself onto Jake's lap, as per usual, instead of glancing around for an empty chair. She liked sitting on people, and he never seemed to mind too much.

Sam folded his arms across his chest, waiting patiently for Jake and Annie to appear. He figured he'd just meet up with Leah in the woods once they had left. It didn't occur to him that Jake and Annie had to eat, too.
Paul cursed at Jake as he snatched some of his food, earning another whack from Emily. Watching them as they talked, Sam leaned against the doorway, occasionaly rubbing at his drooping eyelids. Once he became a wolf he knew would get a burst of energy, but for now he was completely exhausted. The pack had been scattered this week and it left the only ones taking the regular positions with barely any sleep, and in his case, none.
"We're leaving whenever you're ready," he told Jake. When Annie appeared in the kitchen, he repeated the words before wandering out into the living room to wait. He heard Paul's snickers at Annie's actions and frowned. Annie was very different from the rest of the pack. Even if she got the hang of being a wolf, she might not fit in with anyone outside of Jake. The thought worried him and his brows knitted together in concern.
He didn't have much to dwell on the small problem of Annie's joining the pack - Leah strutted through the door just a moment later.
"We're leaving soon!" He said for the third time, a bit warily. God, this was going to be a long day.

Jacob snickered as Paul was whacked in the head by Emily. He folded his arms over his bare chest as a small smirk slipped onto his lips. Even though Annie always sat on his lap, it still surprised him. There were just some things that would take some getting used to. He grimaced slightly, wondering how exactly they were going to get to The Cullens. Annie still couldn't really phase when she wanted, which could produce some problems.
He grabbed Annie by the waist and lifted her up, setting her down carefully on her feet. He then stood up, yawned, and scratched at his eyes. "I'm ready now." he responded, again through a yawn. He glanced over at Leah and was happy to see her in a good mood for once. "Morning." he replied, flashing her a friendly smile. He folded his arms over his chest again, waiting impatiently to leave.

"Great," Leah replied, rubbing at her tired eyes.
She reached around Paul to grab a muffin. She enjoyed the first feeling of warmth in her hands since the previous day. She greedily tore a small part out of the muffin and popped it in her mouth. One good thing about Emily was that she was the best cook around and she never got tired of cooking.
She once again flashed a smile, but it turned sour when her eyes landed on the New Girl, as she had been dubbed in Leah's mind. She looked away, not wanting to get angry about something this quickly. She instead concentrated on her muffin. But to be sociable, she did greet her. "Morning, New Girl"

Annie yawned a few more times, rubbing at her eyes. She didn't move in for the food; she never ate much (ask her sister, and just look at how little she was), and she couldn't say she was hungry. So, she just settled for waking up at the moment--she really needed to do that, especially if she was going anywhere. Usually she ran off of caffeine and coffee, though she could make do without it.
She squeaked a little when he picked her up, and promptly dropped into his vacated chair. "'m ready whenever I have to be," Annie said, nodding lightly. She was pretty flexible when it came to having to go somewhere. She did, however, wonder how this was going to work--hadn't Jake said she wasn't in control of this..phasing shit yet?

"Alright, then let's go," Sam said, giving Leah a glare over Jake's shoulder. He could easily see through her attempts to welcome Annie, which were just attempts to intimadate her. It was the last thing he needed, two girls at eachother's throats, when he had so much else to deal with. He sighed again and rubbed at the stubble that coated his cheeks.
Giving Annie a quick smile, he led the way out of the house. It was barely sunny, but any sort of sunny was welcoming. He lifted his face to the rising sun and let out a deep breathe, trying to calm his nerves.
"Jake, you stick with Annie - Leah, take the rear," he said, and wandered out into the forest to phase. He came back out moments later a rather large black wolf. He barked, trying to get them on the ball.

Jacob followed Sam out the door, sighing deeply as he set foot outside. He glanced up at the sky and could see the large clouds coming in. It definitely was going to rain on their way down to the leeches house, although Jake really didn't mind. It was fun and entertaining to run in the rain, the way it dropped down onto his pelt was soothing, and he always could loose himself in the steady beat of the wet drops of water.
He glanced over at Annie, and thought of some way to make her upset, but not have her hate him later. He pursed his lips together in thought, thinking about how to handle the current situation. After a deep sigh, he slowly turned to her, "So your father just called you up and wanted you to go home?" he asked curiously, hoping that this small little question would set her over the edge.

Annie followed slowly after Jake, stretching once she got outside, rather thankful for the sun. She missed the sun--there had been so much of it back in California, and there was so damn little of it here. She knew the clouds meant bad news, but for now, she would happily absorb the little light that was there.
She automatically tensed when he mentioned her father, feeling a soft shake flow down her spine, which kind of scared her. What the hell was that? She certainly didn't like it. "Si," she said, nodding and clenching her jaw. "After a year of no fucking conatct, he decided that he wants me back. He even--" She shook again, and frowned, taking a deep breath. Okay, what the hell was that?

Leah caught the glare Sam sent her and returned the glare. "Can't I try to be nice? Or is it always a ploy?" She asked under her breath, setting her half eaten muffin on the table.
She really was getting irritable. Her sleepless nights were really getting to her. She headed out the door behind them, waiting for Annie. She'd phase after the New Girl, just to make sure that it would work out. And why did she have to take the rear. The rear was the bottom rung, in Leah's mind. Was this New Girl getting a higher status then her? That wouldn't go over to well.
Stupid New Girl. She glared at Annie. "Go on, go phase. I can't be waiting around all day. I mean, first you come out of no where and they're putting you above me, so you'd better hope this doesn't last to long. Ooh, is the new girl mad at her daddy? You should be glad you even have one." Leah exclaimed bitterly.
"Besides, I always wondered what a pink wolf would look like." Leah sneered, having fun.
She paused a moment, taking in Annie, trying to find a weak spot. She now knew that family was touchy, but what else? She tried to recall all the rumors that Seth had told her about Annie...
"Whats the matter, think you'll be less attractive to all the males in La Push if you look like a giant dog? Does the poor little druggie have self esteem issues? Ooh, the poor baby."

Jacob hid his small smile well, glad that his question was bothering her. He noticed her tense up, and saw her shake a little on her feet. Although he was surprised she still didn't phase, he though that was a tough topic for her. "Maybe he's changed...." he replied quietly, glancing down. He didn't actually believe that, but he just wanted to set her off.
"You should give him a change." No, he shouldn't have said any of this, and he would explain later that he didn't mean any of this, but for now he just needed her to phase. Hopefully he didn't need to say any more then that.

Anger was an emotion that had always come easily to Annie, though she had never quite literally shook with anger. She thought it was simply an expression, though now she knew it was more than that. She snapped; she turned on Leah, eyes narrowing in a glare. "Oh, yeah. Be thankful for the dick that didn't even care when my mother died, and be glad for the asshole that drove me to drugs when I was thirteen, right? Because that makes him such a good person! Shut your mouth, princess, because you don't know jack shit about my father."
When Jake seemed to turn on her as well, the tears welled up; both from being hurt, and from anger. Before she could even respond to him, everything inside of her was shifting, changing, and oh Christ it hurt. And then, she was a wolf, snarling for a moment before whimpering and plopping down, defeated. Yeah, she didn't like those comments at all.

"Yeah? Welcome to the pack, sweet heart. Next time, if you want to keep your clothes, you could have a little more self control." Leah said with a smirk. "And I, will be right back, New girl."
She ducked into the trees, for a moment, to phase. When she had turned into the more powerful version of herself, she came back into view of Annie. She barked sharply at her, Come one, get up, don't be such a baby she though, pushing her slightly with a paw. She did this with a quiet growl.
