Finger tightened, and muscles strained as large, warm hands wrapped around the handles of a worn down motorcycle. Teeth clenched and thoughts drifted, and the engine of his bike was running loudly as he sat comfortably on the seat. Jacob's feet were on the ground, keeping the bike in balance so that it wouldn't topple over. He sat literally only a few feet away from the border line between La Push and Forks; only a few feet away from two completely different, separate worlds. Anger swelled up inside him, and he felt like he was ripping in two. Part of him wanted so badly to speed past the line and find the woman that he loved, but the other part of him told him that it would be very irrational and bad to do such a thing, especially since he had a perfectly good girl right there in La Push. A small sigh managed to escape passed his lips, and as he exhaled out into the crisp air his breath could be seen, only proving just how cold it was on that early morning.
Guilt was building up inside of him, and he felt horrible for the way he had treated Bella when she had come up to visit him. He felt like he hadn't really gotten the opportunity to say goodbye, and he felt like like an asshole for being such a jerk to her. He hung his head down and slowly closed his eyes, as mad as he was he still felt a sense of comfort by knowing that she was still human. The wedding was still a ways away, and he knew that she wouldn't become turned until after it. He turned his wrist up as he revved the engine, still contemplating on what to do.
He turned a little off to the side of the road and then cut the ignition and then quickly parked it out of the way. Jake stepped off of it and slipped his hands into the pockets of his jeans. He walked a little closer to the border line, but still remained on the La Push side of it. He leaned back against one of the tall trees that heavily covered the forest and slowly slid down it so that he was sitting on the ground. He stared blankly ahead of him, lost with his own thoughts. He listened intently to the soft breeze as it came and ruffled the leaves of the nearby trees. A few drifted down to the ground, and he picked one up and turned it over in his hands. He scrunched the leaf in his palm and sighed deeply as it crunched quietly. Jake opened his hand and let the remaining pieces of what was once a leaf float back up into the wind to be carried off into the air.

She hated leukemia. She hated stupid, blunt doctors. She hated hospitals. She hated mirrors. She hated punching mirrors. She hated that she healed freakishly fast. She hated that the freakish healing caused her skin to heal over glass. There were a lot of things Annie hated right at that moment in time.
She was going through a lot, and now that she couldn't have her drugs to help her through it all, she was floundering a bit to look for a bright side to everything. So far from her perspective, there wasn't one. There was no silver lining. There was just pain and death and her wanting to be someone else. This was quite rare for the girl of seventeen, as she was the type to forget regret and live for the moment. But now, she was finding that very difficult, and had never felt so guilty in her entire life.
Despite the fact that she was past the boundary line, she had been staying in Forks for the past few days, with her aunt, uncle, and their son (her cousin) Colton. She had pleaded with Sam, promising she wouldn't phase no matter what. And she had kept her word; she had not phased, despite having to fight it a few times.
She was on her way home now, at least for a few days. Colton's car inched past the speed limit, though she didn't seem bothered by it. Despite the cold weather, she had her window rolled down and was curled up facing it. He hadn't complained or even mentioned it, as he had a jacket on. Dark chocolate brown and magenta streaked locks were brushed back by the speed-induced wind, eyes closed for half a moment when made dry by the cold air. The clothes she was wearing did not belong to her, but she and her cousin were similar in size. Similar, though not exact, which was why jeans were out of the question. So, she went with shorts that were a little long on Juno, though were a decent length on her--not too showy in her own opinion. The tee shirt was a dark, dusty pink with a purposely faded Tinkerbell on the front in the 'vintage' style.
Despite what one would think, he made a turn in the opposite direction of their house, heading towards where she had told him to go. Annie had called Embry and asked where Jake was, and he had told her where he thought he might be. As she had been away for a few days (more-so around a week now, actually), she hadn't wanted to go around looking for him. Yes, she'd called him when she wasn't at the hospital or out with her cousin, but it wasn't as nice as being able to spend time with him.
She thanked her cousin in Spanish and pressed a kiss to his cheek before leaving the car after she spotted Jake's motorcycle, watching as he sped away. She absently wandered off, hoping that she'd be able to find him and not get her ass lost. To be honest, the latter was probably more likely.
However, luck was had and she spotted him after a few moments. Unable to hid a tiny smile, she silently walked up behind him before going up on tip-toe to lightly cover his eyes with her hands. "Guess who," she whispered, pressing a quick kiss against the back of his neck. If her voice didn't give her away, that definitely would.

Jacob slowly stood up from the ground, and he pulled his hands out of his pockets. A small sigh managed to brush passed his lips as he quickly folded his hands over chest which was covered in a plain white shirt. Yes, for once in his life Jake was actually wearing a shirt. It was very cold out, and if he walked around bare chested, people might start to get suspicious. He kicked a rock and watched as it bounced a few feet over the border line, and he pursed his lips a little in thought.
He could clearly hear the sound of a car nearby, but he didn't think too much about it. He closed his eyes, completely oblivious to all that was around him, which is why he hadn't heard Annie sneak up on him. Jake jumped a little, slightly surprised. At first he thought it might have been one of the boys in the pack, but the voice soon led him to conclude that it was Annie. The kiss on the back of his neck only confirmed his realization.
He chuckled a little and put his hands over hers and then slowly spun around so that he was facing her. He held her hands loosely in his own and grinned down at her. Jake bent down a bit to press his lips to hers, and he let the kiss go on for a few moments before wrapping his arms around her to give her a hug. "I missed you." he whined, rubbing her back gently. Her absence had been the reason that he had been thinking so much about Bella for the past few days. When Annie wasn't around, there was no one to distract him from his problem with Bella. Which was a whole other problem of its own.

Annie hadn't quite realized how close they were to the borderline until she got closer, and she automatically wanted to step back a little. She'd spent enough time on the other side, and wanted to be on this side of it for longer than she probably would be able to. She was needed in Forks, and that's just how things were going to have to be until...For a while. She wouldn't say until Juno died, because she couldn't face her best friend and cousin dying. She could probably face just about anything but that.
She fought back a smile when he jumped, and pressed another absent kiss against his neck. "Sorry, amor, I didn't mean to scare you." She had thought that he might have heard her, what with the car and all. And even with walking--she was quiet, but their hearing was damned good. She brushed that aside, however, simply happy to see him.
And apparently, he was happy to see her, too; the kiss proved that much. She accepted it eagerly, allowing her eyes to slide closed for the moment. She'd missed this (and him), even though it had only been a few days. She resisted the urge to pout when he pulled away, and contented herself with the hug for the moment, sighing contentedly and closing her eyes again. "I missed you, too," she murmured, pulling away a little to look up at him. "I was going crazy, seriously. No you and no Embry for a week is not good for what's left of my sanity." There wasn't much, but there was something.

Jacob kissed her lightly on the cheek, and he smiled a little as he pressed his lips against her soft skin. The scent of all her hair products drifted up into his nostrils, but it didn't bother him. He was used to the strong smell now. He sighed slowly and quietly, and pulled away but kept his arms wrapped around her mid-section. His grin grew a little wider, and he shook his head a little. "How's Juno?" he asked, tilting his head a little to the side as his smile soon disappeared. "If you don't want to talk about it, that's totally fine." he assured her, giving her a look of sympathy. The last thing he wanted to do was mke her discuss something that was sensitive for her to speak of.
He glanced up for a moment through the canopy of trees and sighed again, this time a little more louder. Jake then glanced back down at Annie and his childish smile soon found its way back onto his lips. He glanced a little to the side, looking at the imaginary border line. If Annie hadn't of found him he just may have crossed it. That definitely wouldn't have been good, and not to mention the Pack would be angry at him for doing such a stupid thing. But luckily Annie had found him just in time to stop him from doing such an irrational thing like going off to talk to Bella.
"You can't imagine what these past few days have been like for me." he chuckled, shaking his head again. It was true, he depended on her to get his mind off of things; like Bella, her wedding, the treaty soon being broken, and the constant struggle between vampires and werewolves. At these times, life was hard, especially for Jacob.

Annie fought back a wince at the topic of her cousin, and bit her lip a little. "Not too good," she admitted, shaking her head. "Which, unfortunately, means I'll probably be up there a lot. I've already lost my temper twice, I really hope things get better.." She didn't even want to bring up crying, as she'd done too much of that. "First day there I punched a mirror." And the damned glass was still in her hand, as she had refused to let Sam cut open her hand to get it out.
She really didn't want to have to leave again, but she knew that at this point, she didn't have a choice. She just had to wait things out, and inevitably, it looked as if she'd be waiting in Forks Hospital. She'd already caught sight of Dr. Acula (or so she started to call him, ha-ha) and had tried to steer clear. Him being close to her on top of the emotional issues would be a terrible mix.
"Well, lo siento, mi amor," she said, going up on tip-toe to press a quick kiss to his cheek. Someone, adding the 'mi' in front of her usual nickname made it all the more special and intimate. Hm. Strange. "As horrible as it sounds, we may have to get used to it for now. I really don't have a choice at this period in time, and it blows, but she's family." And family had to come first.

Jacob grimaced slightly as Annie mentioned her going into Forks. Going to Forks meant that there were more opportunities to run into a vampire, and since she was going to spend a lot of time in the hospital she was probably going to end up meeting Bella at some point. Bella probably spent one day a week in the hospital, so eventually she was bound to run into Annie. He groaned a little at the thought, the girl he loved bumping into his new girlfriend? There was no way that could end well. He quickly grabbed her hand and ran his finger gently over her knuckles, and he could feel the glass underneath her skin. He clicked his tongue in disapproval and shook his head, "You should let someone take that out." he responded. "Well, I hope she gets better soon, if she's up for it I wouldn't mind meeting her." he said quietly as he glanced down at her, followed by a small shrug of his shoulders.
"Mi amor?" he asked, arching his right eyebrow. "I see that you've changed my nickname." he chuckled, smiling again. He sighed a little, "Don't worry, family comes first. Do what you have to do, I'll manage." he replied, slowly nodding his head. No, he probably wouldn't be fine, and he'd probably end up doing something irrational again. Although he would never tell Annie that.

Annie couldn't help but wince when he was touching her knuckles. Even though his touch was gentle, it still hurt. Hell, you imagine having glass in your hand. "I'm not the best with pain," she admitted, shaking her head. "The thought of someone having to re-open my hand isn't exactly a pleasant one." She hesitated for a moment. "And the only people who I would consider letting do it would be you or Embry." And Embry was probably busy with Paul somewhere, which left Jake. "Sam tried to convince me to do it, but that was kind of a 'hell no' moment for me."
"If she feels up to it, yeah, no problem." If When she got better. If wasn't an option., and even though Annie knew the chances were slim, she would not admit it. Denial is the first stage to acceptance, after all, and she still had to go through all of them.
"Si," Annie said, with a smile. "Mi amor." It was what he was, after all. She had a good feeling that the second word was exaclty how she felt about him, though was too afraid to admit that to him. Normally she'd say it in Spanish so he would be lost, but 'te amo' was obvious. 'Te quiero' was another option, but he'd figure that out soon enough.
"I'll try to be here as much as possible," she promised, with a nod. "I miss you too much when I'm there. But, thankfully, I'm here for a few days, so we have some time together, which we can spend in whatever way you please." She wasn't picky.

Jacob quickly moved his hand away from hers when he felt her flinch. "Sorry," he mumbled, slowly shaking his head. "I don't know if I would be good at taking it out...." he responded, furrowing his eyebrows a little with confusion. The only person he could really think of that would take it out safely was either Sam or....Carlisle, which probably wasn't a good idea, although he had helped him when he had gotten hurt in the fight against Victoria. But still, it was completely out of the question. Plus, if they went and saw him, Carlisle would find out about him and Annie, and he wasn't really sure if he was ready for that. If that blood sucker found out, so would everyone else and then, Bella.
He shrugged his shoulders, "Don't worry about it, I'm sure I'll meet her one of these days." he replied as a small smile slipped onto his lips. He arched his right eyebrow, "I like mi amor." he said, tilting his head a little to the side. It sounded a little more personal and affectionate, although she probably just thought it was a cute nickname. From what he had heard about her past, she probably didn't say 'My Love' because she loved him. Definitely not.
"You can pick what we do today." he said quietly, followed by a small yawn. Sleep had not come easily in the last few days, plus the Pack had been on patrol like crazy over the past few weeks. There was so much tension, making it difficult to get some shut eye.

"Don't worry about it," Annie said, shaking her head a little. "I was the idiot that punched the mirror in the first place. I'll probably have Kate handle it, actually..Eventually. After I, y'know, tell her I'm a werewolf and all that. Or I could just say I forgot about it and left it there until it healed, which is possible because I am a little scatter-brained, but.." She sighed a little, shaking her head. All the secret stuff was getting old and annoying. She'd have to tell Kate sooner or later, and sooner might be better. AKA, before the glass forced itself out, as Embry said it would.
"Yeah, you will," Annie said, nodding. "Once she gets out of the hospital and all, I think she's coming to visit up here. So, when that happens, you can meet her. You already met Colton, so.." He had, of course, thought she was flirting with someone. Had he not been her cousin, it would seem very much like that, but it was far from it. The two were just playful, which seemed strange for such a stoic young man. She smiled again and nodded. "Si, I do, too," she said. "I don't really ever remember calling anyone that before (well, aside from family), so, you're the first." She'd never cared enough to add the 'mi'. Honestly, she'd used amor to avoid using her past flings' names.
Damnit. She'd always been indecisive, but decided she'd come up with something eventually. She had a few ideas (..well, one, and I think we could all guess what it was), though she didn't exactly want to resort to that just yet. She went up on tip-toe to give him a quick kiss, and pulled away a little. "You look tired." Concerned eyes met his, and she tilted her head to the side. "You okay?"

Explaining to Kate that they were all werewolves was something that was pretty high on the list of priorities. It definitely was going to be a very difficult task to accomplish, and it wasn't going to be simple when they tried to tell her that they were giant wolves that guarded La Push from vampires. "Do you have any idea how you are going to tell Kate yet?" he asked, his voice full of curiosity and concern. It would be good for Kate to know, especially since she was interning at the hospital, that way she could help out when any of the Pack members got hurt.
"Well let her know that I said hello then." he responded, grinning a little. He shook his head at the mention of Colton. It was a little embarrassing how he had overreacted when he had thought that Annie was flirting with him, and he was actually just her cousin. He blushed a little, not really wanting to think to much more about what had happened. He grimaced a little at the remembrance of that day; 4/20. Jake had smoked pot for the first time, which he didn't think he would be doing again very soon.
He slowly nodded his head and kissed her lightly on the lips to reassure her that everything was okay. "I'm fine, just a little tired." he whispered quietly, staring down into her eyes. "Whatever you want to do is fine with me." he replied, tilting his head a little to the side.

"Uhm, nope," Annie said, shaking her head. "It would be so much easier if Mami was still alive. She always believed the legends, and she'd believe me in a heart beat. I might actually have to phase, which would make her think she was insane, which wouldn't end well at all." She frowned a little to herself. "The last thing I need is my current guardian in an insane asylum." Then she'd definitely be shipped back to California, which would result in her running away again.
"Will do," Annie murmured, sighing a little. "I'm going to try to get out of going back," she said after a moment. "It's..it's so depressing, and I really can't take it. I don't get upset, I get angry, and I end up hurting myself. And once the anger fades, I get upset. Damnit, I've cried more this week than I have in the past six years. It's not good for me." Just thinking about it made her eyes burn, so she quickly thought of something else in her mind. But that something would not help her much, either.
"If you're sure you're alright.." She murmured, still a worried. "If you want to go take a nap or something, I could go home and find you later, no problem." No, she didn't want to do that, but she would if he wanted her to. ..For once, was Antigone Delilah Crow..whipped? Oh, God, it seemed like it.
She smiled when he kissed her, and went up on tip-toe to kiss him once more. She pulled away after a moment, and the words she said were purely automatic: "Te amo." And then, she froze. Oh, hell, had she just said that out loud? She prayed to every and any god that was listening that he wouldn't understand her, though she knew he would; it wasn't exactly hard to understand. "Oh, mierda," she said under her breath, and the word repeated in her mind. Mierda. Mierda. Mierda. Mierda. Mierda. Mierda. She averted her eyes from his (not exactly hard, due to his height), and almost wanted to smack herself. "Lo siento, I-I didn't.."

"Yeah, your last resort could always be to just turn in front of her. Kinda like how I convinced you." he responded, quickly shrugging his shoulders. He laughed a little at the memory of when he had phased in Sam's guest room to prove to Annie that he was telling the truth. The smile then disappeared when he remembered how scared she had looked. She had probably thought that he was some kind of a monster, but she didn't think that now which was all that mattered.
He shook his head, "Nah, I'm fine. I don't need a nap." he responded, grinning again. Taking a nap just sounded feminine and the complete opposite of masculine, so Jake didn't want to take any. He cocked his head to the side as he glanced down at her. "As long as I'm with you I'll do pretty much anything you want to do." he replied.
"Te amo" Jacob completely froze. He understood that small bit of Spanish, and it scared him to think about it. Did she really love him? Or was it just a spur of the moment type thing? He found himself speechless, and he struggled to find words that could be put together to make sense. He furrowed his brows in confusion as she said she was sorry and didn't mean it, and he sighed deeply and closed his eyes for a few moments. "Do you....really feel that way about me?" he asked. His voice was shaky, full of fear and nervousness. He stared down at her with a blank look on his face, wondering what her answer was going to be.

"That's definitely my last resort," Annie said, nodding. "Hopefully she'll believe me after a little convincing so I don't have to, but, whatever. I'll do what I have to." She still wasn't all-too-fond of phasing, but she was getting used to it as time went on. She smiled a little as well, and nodded. "Yeah, I thought I was on some crazy ass trip or something at first." But then he'd phased, and that had really scared her at first. She wasn't scared of him, no. But now she wasn't scared of any of it.
"You sure?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "Kate isn't home, so you could always come over there with me if you want." There were quite a few options at her house, though she wouldn't mention them--he could make suggestions first. "Hm, really? You probably shouldn't have told me that." She was joking of course, and sent him a playful smile along with it.
Mierda. Annie felt her heart pounding away in her chest, and really wanted to smack herself. She knew he probably didn't want to hear that, though hadn't been able to hold it back. She was aware of the whole Bella situation (Embry had filled her in when she asked), and she fucking knew he needed time. But no, she'd pulled an idiot move. As always.
She hesitated, swallowing, heart still hammering away. "S-si," she managed after a moment, nodding. English was not processing. "Hago." (I do). She thought that leaving might be her best bet at that point, but she was rooted on the spot. ...Mierda.

"Would it be easier to have the pack explain with you?" he asked, glancing to the side for a moment. It seemed like everything would go faster if they were all there to explain. If Annie told her alone, Kate might just think she's mental, but if they were all there saying the same thing then it might be a little more convincing. He shrugged his shoulders, it may have just been best to let Annie do it alone, sister to sister.
"I'm fine, I don't need to take any naps." he responded, fighting back a smile. "If you want to go to your place that's fine with, or we can go to mine. Whatever works best for you." he said, pursing his lips together in thought. His dad wasn't home so they'd have the place to themselves.
His heart was beating so damn loud and fast, and he wondered if Annie could hear him. Yes, he really cared about her but he wasn't sure if that was love. He was still in love with Bella, but was it possible to love two people at once? His mind raced with confusion, unsure of what to say or do. Nothing made sense anymore. He put his hand lightly on her cheek, and he ran his thumb along her skin. Jake wanted to beat the crap out of himself for not saying those three simple words back to her. He wanted to hit himself for being too weak and too scared.
